Flying Lessons

Lesson 18:

Look for Blessings.

I have tried to tell myself a lot lately = you find what you are looking for. I feel like we have an awful lot of things in our life right now that I would count as the opposite of blessings; more like mountains that seem to never end and that I'm not making any progress in climbing.  At this moment I sit at the hospital with Christian, watching the antibiotics run through his IV and anxiously waiting for that infection to disappear.  We will be spending another night here tonight.

Yet I do have blessings to count; and when I look for them I find them all around me.  Seeing my blessings and recognizing them allows me to feel God's love and see His hand helping me; even as I stumble up this mountain; I can still be thankful.  Is it my nature to arrive at this attitude by default?  No, I have to tell myself; to will myself to do it.  Each time I do I find it easier the next time.  Each time I do I find  I am happier; in some small way I am becoming more of who I am supposed to be.

Just try it; look for the blessings.
Sailing on,
E
