Giddy Up Baby Blanket

I'm so happy to have something finsihed for the new baby.  After I had finished up Clark's cowboy quilt that I gave him for Christmas I realized I had all of these scraps that I would much rather use than have sit in another pile for way too long.  My goal was to use what I already had, so I just made it up as I went along and I'm happy with how it turned out.

I knew that I wanted it to be super soft and flexible for baby so I just put a grey minky fabric on the back and then did some very basic quilting.  A navy herringbone binding and yea, it is finished!  I am also currently using up the rest of the scraps to make a little changing pad to have with me in the car.

Below is Clark's quilt, and now his baby brother has a matching one.  I hope he likes it.

More Fun Times

May has filled us up and run wild.  We have had a whirlwind of fun activities and end of season get togethers.  As we head into June Kurt and I are getting ready to begin a round of Whole30.  I'll let you know how that goes.  My children are REALLY excited about cutting processed sugar out of our home for 30 days, believe me!  I'm having a hard time getting through this pregnany with any energy so I'm trying to put everything I can in my corner!  We will see how I feel.

Savanna rescued a baby bird that landed at our home and took good care of it until it's parents found it again and were feeding it and helped it back to their home.  It was really fun and sweet to see.
We all think Faye is so funny and cute to watch that often we sit down and just laugh about the things she does and says.

Clark started speech therapy and I'm learning so much about the muscle of the tongue and what we need to work on with him.  I *hope* this is the last lingering issue we need to tackle right now from all of his delayed development / health struggles.  Knock on wood for me!
It has been a blast to work with the horses in warmer weather.  The outdoor arena feels so free and it's fun to see how different all the horses look with their winter coats shaved.  I didn't know this but a lot of their markings don't show through their long winter coats so 4 horses that looked all the same a few weeks ago now have very distinct differences in their white coats.  This pony looks so different without his shaggy winter coat that we hardly recognized him.
We had another epic birthday party at my parents' house for my  nephew.  It's not a good idea to blindfold a pregnant lady and spin her in cirlces and then expect her to actually HIT the pinata!
Did I mention that we think Faye is pretty cute right now?
We had a fun, fast and furious visit from Grandma and Grandpa and had a great time at Madeline's school play.
Oh man life is fun, isn't it?  One of the reasons why I love photos so much is that it reminds me about all the good times we have had over the past two weeks.  It's a chaotic ride here with this bunch but I can honestly say that we spend a lot of time together and we really do have fun.  It reminds me that I have incredible children and that we are trying hard to do what we feel is right for them.
Have a great Memorial Day!

May !

The weather is beautiful and we are so much enjoying soaking up the sun as we finish up soccer season.  I feel so blessed to be having such great weather as I contiue my attempts at being a gardner.

April felt like it flew by so quickly and I realized that I had not taken a lot of time to reflect on everything that had taken place and how I felt about it all.  After doing that I feel like I have learned a lot and I feel very blessed for how we continue to be guided and watched over by the hand of the Lord.  Blessings large and small appear at every intersection of every week and I'm thankful that I have had great reminders to recognize and show gratitiude for them.

I've learned so much homeschooling this year and now that I have all of my curriculum ordered for the upcoming school year I feel so thankful to have a supportive husband and friends on this homeschooling adventure.  I'm so happy with all that I am learning and with watching my children learn and grow.

As I continue to work and pray and work and pray to find the right location to the get Pure Bliss Shaved Ice open this summer I am again thankful for people who encourage dreams to come to fruition in my life.  I'm also thankful for the lessons that I learned long ago, from great parents, about hard work and persistence.  So much of life is carried on the wings of not giving up.

Speaking of not giving up, isn't that what our own personal journey's of faith and parenting are all about?  I sure feel like it.  There is so much to do and to be learned in the daily work of walking on and not allowing things to stop us.  We may have to sidestep or back up and then move forward, but 'Keep moving forward' is something that I say a lot when I talk to myself.

We had the MOST FUN birthday celebration for my dad's 65th birthday and my brother Brent's birthday as well.  We all went to Dart Warz and had a blast shooting at each other.  An added bonus was Matt being here in town as well.  It was such a great memory and my children have been talking about it every day since.  Thanks Mom for planning such a super party!

I'm hopeful, and feeling grateful for all (or maybe MOST)  that life offers.
Sailing On,
E

Edited:   I wrote this post 5 days ago.  Now we are buried in 5 inches of snow and it is still coming down.  Say a little prayer for my garden!  I'm thankful I can stay home and snuggle my children and not go anywhere today.   Emmas' s staples are out of her head and it seems to be healing well.  That shirt is forever stained with blood but it could have been so much worse.  The regular soccer season is now over and I'm ready to take a break from coaching which feels great.  Life is good.
